The prolific world of blogs allows for an incessant bombarding of awesome places to visit and gorgeous items to buy. On this particular weekend we opted to explore the sights, sounds and most importantly eats of a new neighborhood in our favorite little city to the South of us, Portland. Typically we are too busy hiking around on Saturdays to get anything more than a Kind bar for lunch, so actually sitting down to a delicious lunch was a real treat. We started our day of eating at
Por Que No and were delighted by their homemade chips and salsa and extensive menu of tacos.
They like to give you variety, so you order your tacos individually to create your own perfect meal.
The restaurant was packed, their was a line out the door, the outdoor seating was approaching full and they even have this overflow room, which is sort of outside, sort of inside. All signs of a good place to eat.
Mississippi Avenue is littered with food trucks, restaurants and boutiques. I think it would take a week to eat your way down this street.
Brunch is a favorite pastime for most foodies on the weekends. We have never embraced this tradition, but the line outside of
Gravy gave reason to pause and reconsider this.
Although we lead a relatively scheduled life of fun, we are flexible enough to enjoy the unexpected. We happened upon this ice cream shop,
Ruby Jewel and I dare say it is the best ice cream I have ever had. I ordered the Honey Lavender and Cameron ordered the Peanut Butter chocolate. The creaminess was unparalleled.
One of the main reasons I wanted to head to Portland this past weekend was to attend Little Winter Market at
The Cleaners. The vendors were compromised of a hand full of creative and talented people. One of the highlights was being able to meet Jordan Ferney from Oh Happy Day, this event definitely got the creative juices flowing.
The Cleaners is a wonderful rental space at the Ace Hotel.
We rounded out the day with equal parts shopping and sustenance. We dined at
Pastini for dinner and made our way through the soggy streets of Portland umbrella and packages in hand. Our last stop was Voodoo Doughnut for a long line and some unique looking confections.
