Dating my husband

Cameron and I made an appearance in the latest issue of Seattle Met Magazine. The photo was taken at a Seattle Symphony's Cirque du Symphony and is a great memento of how much we love to get dressed up, spend an evening out and most importantly just be together. We enjoy attending all types of performances and like to make it extra special by dressing up and having a nice dinner beforehand. Consistently making my spouse a priority in my life has proven to be my biggest blessing in life.

SLU Burger Competition

What do you get when you combine excellent weather, stellar food and great friends? Smiles all around and a good time had by all. This year was the second annual South Lake Union Burger Competition. The competition was fierce with five burgers coming from Top Pot, Sea Star, Whole Foods, Brave Horse and Lunchbox Laboratory. 

Boysterous

The other evening we were able to spend a fantastic night at Seattle Met's "Boysterous"at the Space Needle. We were able to sample a variety of oysters from seven different vendors, all while taking in views of the city and enjoying live music. I really enjoyed be able to try such fresh seafood and it once again made me realize what amazing access Seattle has to great food.

Hutch Holiday Gala

The Hutch Holiday Gala is the largest fundraiser benefitting the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Through this event alone, they were able to raise over four million dollars to fund cancer research. This black tie event featured a five course dinner, both a silent and live auction and late night dancing. We were astounded by the generosity of many people present and found the evening utterly inspiring. We could not help but feel for those who had lost members of their family due to cancer, particularly the ones who have lost children.

The lighting was what really what made the event space pop.

Party time

Due to Cameron's job we have the opportunity to attend many great events. This past week we were invited to attend Kemper Freeman's Construction Party. This is his version of a holiday party complete with an ice sculpture, an abundance of delicious food and a great excuse to get dressed up.

Light A Fire

Last week, we had the opportunity to attend the first ever Light A Fire Event in Seattle. We had the opportunity to mix and mingle with several interesting people and I left that evening utterly inspired to do more with my own life. The key note speaker, Renae Goettel, was this amazing young woman who has survived cancer, is blind, but just happens to run marathons and work for the Make A Wish foundation. This young woman had done more in her twenty something years than most do in a lifetime.

As I contemplate how to become a more productive, generous and community minded individual, I would encourage each of you to look inside yourself and see what you have to offer others. SLU Block Party and Best Burger Competition

One of the perks of Cameron's new job is that he is more "in the know" of all the fun happenings around Seattle. Last Friday, his work cohosted a Best Burger Competition at the South Lake Union Block Party. I had the opportunity to join in on the fun and we were able to sample sliders from places like Blue Moon Burger, Lunchbox Laboratory, Whole Foods, SeaStar and Brave Horse Tavern. Our personal favorite was the Mushroom burger, but I will have to admit it had an unfair advantage because anything with arugula I instantly consider a cut above. The fried cheese curd hamburger rallied for a solid second place in my book as the tastiest.

Cranes are ever present in the growing South Lake Union area.

What would a night of stuffing ourselves with tasty sliders be without washing it down with a trio of Top Pot Doughnuts. Good enough for the President, good enough for me.
