Holiday traditions

The holidays are a wonderful time of year, but add in lots of family traditions and it makes it all the more enjoyable. Every year the weekend after Thanksgiving we go snowshoeing, attend the Kirkland Tree Lighting and decorate our Christmas tree. I like to maintain a busy schedule, so all the holiday buzz is right up my alley.

Snowshoeing on Saturday was wet and the snow was not that great. However, regardless of the weather the scenery is still something out of a Christmas movie.

After snowshoeing we met up with my family for the Kirkland Tree Lighting. There was free hot cocoa and cider, free jingle bells and most importantly not a drop of rain to be seen anywhere.

Tree lots have nothing on Donna's

You would not think that I would love making the "trek" to the grocery store of all places to get our Christmas tree, but I do. Ever since I first convinced Cameron to buy a Christmas tree for his little apartment we have been going there. This year since we have moved we are in a bit of a dilemma. What shall we do? Do we drive to Kirkland and reenact our annual tradition only to have to drive across the water with a tree on our car or do we opt to make a new tradition? It is hard when you are forced to move, similar to being dumped as opposed to breaking up with someone. We are feeling a bit sad this season, but we are very much enjoying our double paned windows.

Home is where the heart is..... so I guess we still live in Kirkland

We spent quite a bit of time over in Kirkland this past weekend, which these days comes with mixed emotions. Sometimes I forget we no longer live there, as I begin to think we are close to home I am suddenly reminded home is now across the water. Don't get me wrong, we are rather enjoying West Seattle, it is just different. It does not help that we only signed a six month lease and so the idea of home is not really anywhere right now. Someday we will have such things figured out, but for now we are drifters, drifters with a roof over our head.

Another fan of Thin Pan

After a grumpy disposition and predetermination that she would not like anything on the menu, she happily declared moments later, "I like those beans" Oh, how Thin Pan can change the toughest food critic. She did however not enjoy the "tater tots" that Cameron recommended she try, that were in actuality fried tofu. She was an especially good sport and even tried the bright red chopsticks that only the brave people try with something as challenging as jumbo beans. (I especially like that bean that is sticking out of the corner of her mouth.)
