The Byodo-In Temple is a replica of a 900 year old temple in Kyoto, Japan. The temple was built in memory of the first Japanese immigrants who came to Oahu to work in the sugar plantations. The backdrop of the 2,000 feet tall Koolau Range made for not only awesome photos, but transported you to another time and place. 
In the pond surrounding the temple there were Koi, unusually plump due to the food they sold in the nearby gift shop. Watching them made me realize how they have mouths like vacuums and they literally seem to inhale their food.
Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens are lush and wonderful, filled with gorgeous plants and endless photo opportunities.
Cameron was extremely excited about partaking of Dole whip, so we made a quick stop at the Dole Plantation for him. The most fascinating part was seeing how the pineapple grew and that it can take up to two years to produce. I finally realize why the pineapple is a symbol of upmost hospitality because procuring one used to be no easy task.
We happened to be in Oahu for Lei Day which meant there were free concerts and festivities everywhere. We had to get at least one totally touristy and cheesy photo for the record.
