Whenever a long weekend approaches, it is my knee jerk reaction to get out of town. As much as I enjoy living in Seattle, a change of scenery does wonders for my well being. The weather in Seattle is typically disappointing for Memorial day, so we have finally gotten wise and know we should head east to find the sunshine. Eastern Washington might as well be worlds away from Seattle because everything from its demographics to the color palette is so different than the city.
We stumbled upon the
Columbia Wildlife Refuge, on our way to Potholes State Park. We had the place to ourselves and were treated to an afternoon of sunshine and bird watching. After experiences like this, we always say we should purchase binoculars, but we never have.
