Mountain House Giveaway: let the camping season begin!

In our free time we love to hike and camp. Since we go a lot we like to keep our prep work simple. We might decide on a Thursday evening to pack up our bags and head out somewhere on a Friday or we might plan an impromptu hike midweek. Our meal style while camping or hiking is simple, quick meals with easy clean up. We like to be able to eat and then get on with our other activities as soon as possible. Also, since we usually hike into our campsites, the weight of our bags is an important consideration for us.

Over the years, we have found the perfect solution for enjoying meals outdoor activities has been freeze dried food. Now some of you may scrunch up your noses when you hear about freeze dried food, but I am here to reassure you a Mountain House freeze dried meal accompanied by a healthy serving of fresh fruit and veggies is our perfect solution to mountain top cooking. We have enjoyed Mountain House products for several years, so when they were eager to take part in our anniversary festivities, I was excited to share some of my favorite products with you.

One evening after work, we set out on a midweek hike right around dinner. My solution for dinner was to toss a Mountain House meal into my pack and away we went. Once at the top of the mountain we were able to boil water, add it to the pouch and within fifteen minutes we were enjoying a delicious hot meal.

Mountain House has this new to me line of products called Wraps. Inside the pouch is the filling and then you provide rice or tortillas to put the filling on or in. Although the pouch we had said it was one serving, we found it to be ample food for two hungry people. Full and satisfied, we were able to enjoy the diminishing light and a peaceful evening on the mountain top all to ourselves.

Now is your opportunity to try out some freeze dried food. One lucky reader has the opportunity to win a day's worth of meals:

one 4.73 oz pouch of Breakfast Skillet
one 5.11 oz pouch of New Orleans Style Rice and Beans
one 5.64 oz pouch of Chicken Alfredo

Leave a comment on the blog or on Instagram by Monday, June 24th about what your camping food style is and whether or not you have ever tried Mountain House freeze dried meals before.

This giveaway is sponsored by Mountain House, all opinions in this post are my own.
