In order to view the tulips with the least amount of strangers popping up in your photos I recommend going early in the morning or on a weekday. On the weekends in the middle of the day the fields can be swarming with people. After a morning of looking and photographing flowers make certain to buy a couple bunches of tulips before you leave the fields.
Once you are done at the fields, head downtown for either brunch at Calico Cupboard or lunch at LaConner Brewing Company.
After lunch, browse the little downtown shops and pick up a souvenir or two from the locals. One of my favorite stores to pick up organic, locally made, unique products is Pelindaba Lavender. For those of you who have recently been to our home or had a birthday you may know I am a big fan of their Lavender Bittersweet Chocolate Sauce and Lavender Shortbread cookies . I always make certain to have both on hand for either the unexpected guest or last minute birthday gift.
Here is a little bit about their company:
Pelindaba Lavender is a premier grower of lavender plants, distiller of lavender essential oils and handcrafter of lavender products. On their beautiful farm on San Juan Island, they undertake these activities in accordance with the highest environmental and aesthetic standards. They cultivate all their flowers in their own organically certified fields and extract the essential oils from these flowers in their on site distillery. From these flowers and essential oils, they handcraft a wide range of botanical, culinary, personal care, therapeutic, household and pet care products. This sustainable agriculture enables them to preserve the farmland from further development, protect it from pollution, create employment opportunities for fellow islanders and provide a destination of natural beauty.

Pelindaba Lavender has so graciously decided to give our readers the opportunity to win a decadent Lavender Sugar Scrub. This sugar scrub would be the perfect item to pamper yourself with or give as a gift to your mom for Mother's day.

I received the Lavender Body Butter as a gift when I was pregnant with my daughter. It worked wonders! I highly recommend it.
It looks like such a beautiful place to visit! I'm sorry I didn't know about it prior to my last visit to Friday Harbor.
I knew lavender had medicinal qualities, but didn't realize what it could be used for until checking out their site. We've been wanting to take a lavender farm tour and this looks like a great one, thanks, Lisette!
I have used lavender essential oil and love it! This company gives off such a fresh aura. What a fabulous way Pelindaba Lavender combines both the beauty and practicality that is found in nature.
This is interesting, I had no idea there were so many products made with lavender. I think the massage oil looks great! Lavender is definitely a relaxing scent so it sounds perfect.
SInce it has been below freezing and snowing almost every day this month, seeing photos of fields of flowers was enough for me! It looks so beautiful. I'm curious about the lavender vinegar - I've tried only a few flower vinegars but not many...
I love me some lavender. Sugar scrub is my favorite! How fun!
I'm sure the body products are fantastic, but I want the shortbread! Sounds delicious! Does that count?
My skin loves lavender. Their skin products are wonderful!
Oooh la la la lavender! Their hair care products look fabulous! I will need to stop by this store when we're up at the tulip festival this year.
I've got a lavender microwave heat pack, lavender salt scrub, and lavender essential oil. I'd like to taste some lavender honey next.
So awesome!! Thanks for letting me know about the giveaway. I LOVE lavendar products (we went to a lavendar farm on Maui which was so fun and I had to resist buying stuff. :) I love that Pelindaba is organic. So great! (p.s. your blog is so great!)
Hmm, narrowing it down would be hard. I LOVE lavender. I think if I had to buy one product I would get the Therapeutic Salve.
Love that Pelindaba has such a wide variety of products to offer! I love the Tullip Festival too.
OK, first of all, "last minute birthday gifts"??? Last minute? Fair warning, you have nearly a year to shop for my next bday gift. ;-) I scarfed them lavender shortbread hummers right down, so I know they are divine. We shall enjoy the lav choc sauce at fam dessert soon! I do like the Pelindaba web site very much. I like that the info pops right up when all you do is hover over the key word. I like the info on Lavender--they get right to the heart of the matter without yapping about stuff that isn't critical. And, I am going to buy lavender essential oil. Sounds fabulous and so very helpful. xoxo
I've given Pelindaba gifts to several people and everyone is impressed with the quality of their products.
What a beautiful website! I'd love to try their Lavender Linen Water and the dryer bags - I have not tried their products before, so thanks for introducing them to me!
Gaaaaaah, too slow!!!
Thanks for the reminder about the festival... marking it on my calendar now!
