By all accounts we have had an unlikely Summer weather wise. Several trails will reportedly never thaw out and thousands of wildflowers will never make an appearance. As sad as this might sound, don't let it deter you from getting out there and taking a hike. This weekend we thought for certain Snow Lake's trail would be snow free and that we would be able to access Gem Lake. We were shocked when we read on the trail review that ice axes were still needed to make it there. A tad disappointed, we ventured onto Snow Lake and then took a detour to Source Lake. We spend a great deal of time snowshoeing in these parts, so seeing it in the Summer is always a new perspective.
The trail was relatively people free, but not entirely snow free.
A tiger lily for the road.
There were waterfalls aplenty.
Snow Lake covered in snow and ice.
