What's for dinner tonight?

You never realize how convenient it is to live close to everything until you are in the middle of a recipe and need to run and buy one last ingredient mid cooking. The best part is that instead of going to the grocery store, I was able to go to the local nursery and buy really fresh herbs. You see, I was need in Thai Basil and the odds the grocery store would have had it is pretty much zero. While I was out I thought I would pick up some Sweet Basil too because around here we go through it like water.

Last night Cameron and I delve deeper into the new cookbook and this time tried making Chicken and Basil Stir-Fry. All in all we were happy with the results and anytime I get to eat with chopsticks equals pure excitement. Next time I will add snap peas, but the unfortunate thing was I had some ripe ones growing in my garden I had forgotten about. Yes, I have a little garden, but let's just say that the combination of cold weather and rain is making my lettuce choke and my arugula drown. Not pretty.

Later that evening we were able to enjoy the homemade chocolate ice cream I had made the previous day. I wanted to make sure it was extra frozen. It was very rich, pretty good consistency and a lot of work to make. Since we do not own an ice cream maker, I chose a recipe which was custard base and made on the stove. Then I let the freezer do the rest of the work. I adapted the recipe a tad replacing whole milk with fat free milk and I used all semi sweet chocolate instead of a combination of milk and semi sweet.
