My sanctuary

There is a certain reverence when hiking in the rain, no doubt the lack of crowds a sunny day draws. The lushness of the moss covering all in sight, from the ground to dripping off the trees, the rumbling sounds of water cascading from cliff to cliff and the river splashing up onto its banks. There is a richness when you stop to tread lightly, there is a connection with nature. There is a closeness, a strength that I absorbed surrounded by pure beauty. Watching the baby ferns uncurling, signs of spring peeking its head out everywhere. There is quote by Wordsworth when you enter Wallace Falls, it reads, “Come forth into the light of things. Let nature be your teacher.” I love this quote and I would rather be able to distinguish different types of moss verses being able to name the contestants on American Idol. What do you do to rejuvenate your heart and mind??
